First Annual Fall Solo Show

We are having our first annual fall solo show.  Friday Nov. 13 and Saturday Nov 14.  Friday is the opening reception and will start at 6 until whenever.  Saturday, bring more friends back.  Mark your calendars for a fun time.

T-Rex survived first snowstorm of the year

We got the t-rex set up in the front yard just in time for the first snow storm of the year.  We loved seeing him in the snow.  The other pictures were taken just as he was moved out of the garage.

"Full Throttle"

"Full Throttle" was made specifically for a competition at the Eccles Art Gallery in Ogden.  We picked up the flier and Tim saw that it had the theme of 'Western Art' and knew exactly what he was going to do.  By the time we got home, he even had it named.  For "Full Throttle" Tim built from the outside in.  Instead of starting with an engine crank, Tim started with a piece of burl which entailed building around it and then finishing the wood and putting it in as some of the last pieces.

Tim working on the latest project.

This piece is called "Full Throttle"

"Huey"

"Huey" was installed June 6th.  He is flying at 50 W. South Temple.  He is located right next to where we parked in the float waiting for our turn to enter the parade.  It is to the side of the entrance to Abravanal Hall.

"Huey" Flies

The engineers that installed the art on the poles said that "Huey" was the easiest to install.  From truck to top of pole was less than 5 minutes.

"Huey" is loaded to take downtown.

Newest Piece "Big Head, Little Arms"

This is Tim's latest piece.  If you can see, the inside is not an engine crank as usual, but a piece of wood.  The piece is balanced on the piece of wood at the bottom and will bounce when nudged.  "Big Head, Little Arms" was juried into the Springville Museum of Art and it's 85th Spring Salon.  It won a Merit Award.  There were 1100 entries and only 253 accepted with 50 Merit Awards.  We feel honored getting in as it was our first time of applying.  The show runs thru July 5.  It is a beautiful gallery and they have a good selection of really great pieces.  You can find more information at www.smofa.org.

"Huey, the Utah Cricket"

Tim applied to the City of Salt Lake to be one of the 12 artist's chosen to display a piece of art for 2 years on top of poles in downtown Salt Lake.  He had to make a 12 inch model of his design.  These are pictures of the model.  We found out Saturday that Tim was accepted as one of the 12 artists.

"Cougar" SOLD

This is Tim's latest.  He calls it "Cougar".  The gallery calls it "Vicious Cat".  It is also made out of  engine parts.  It is over 5 feet long and weighs over 200 pounds.  It has found a new home in California.

Tim has created many shapes and sizes of spiders, all harmless!!  The big one or "Big Daddy" as we call him is 13 feet across.  It is made of drilling rod and a redwood body.  "Big Daddy continues to move when you push on it.  The other spiders are made from rebar, engine parts, fire alarms and whatever it takes to make the body.  The fire alarm spiders are working fire alarms, or heat sensors.

"Childhood Fantasies"

Childhood Fantasies is a piece I was commissioned to do by the FOUS IV.  They wanted a piece that was interactive and  could be enjoyed by all ages and cultures.  It has been displayed at West Fest in West Valley City as well as the advertising piece for the FOUS (Faces of Utah Sculpture)IV at the Cultural Celebration Center in West Valley City.  Each of the red knobs creates a reaction, whether it is squirting water or making a noise.  When it is displayed it is enjoyed by all and always brings a crowd.

"The Guardian"
The Guardian is my first sculpture, and the start of my career as an Artist.  The piece is one solid piece of Tamarisk.  The wood itself is very valuable in that it has a considerable amount of burl.  The burl in the wood and the way it grew tells the story of the wood's life.

Available as a bronze

"Spot"
My wife calls this spot because it came from the workshop into the livingroom and it needed to be nice to stay in the house.  Spot is made from automotive parts, metal, and bone.  The head and vertebrae are from a deer.

"Butterfly II"
The butterfly is created using springs and metal to create the body.  The wings are glass from different cars.  This one was created for the Mom of the son whose car the glass was from.  Some of the butterflies have painted wings and some don't.
